I’m over this whole “thin is in” campaign. A recent post on Broke&Beautiful brought to my attention the warped view people have about body-types. I immediately was disgusted by some of the things people have to say about voluptuous, beautiful women – ie “It looks like she’s growing an elephant on her hips!” Hello, people, that’s called having a figure. It’s something a lot of the ultra-thin, almost boyish, androgynous girls do not have. I don’t know when it became cool for girls to try to look like boys – but I, personally, prefer girls to be girl-shaped; women should look like women. I don’t know who these slightly anorexic looking girls think they’re trying to fool. It’s weird when you’re so thin you look like all skin and bones. There is nothing sexier than a healthy glow. As my friend Raymond once said – “people should accept what their body naturally is.” So if you’ve got a few curves, flaunt it! Love your body – accentuate the best parts! Embrace it (or let someone else embrace it! grrrowl!!)
Stick thin and sickly is out, proportionate, healthy and SMART is in!
I feel it necessary to also give a shout out to smart girls. There’s something crazy hot about a girl who can rattle off the chemical sequence of sugar (cus you KNOW she’s sweet on the inside) or tell you where Olympus Mons is, or who can tell you who literary Sybele was. If you’ve got the brains, flaunt it. If you want the brains, get some! Knowledge is power!
