Mister and I went on a tiny shopping spree this last weekend with drool-worthy results. Among the things I DID buy were a couple much-needed pairs of cute trouser-shorts (more to come on that, later). I noticed, while out, that a big Majolica Blue was a prominent fall hue. It came in tops and dresses – a little more vibrant and pronounced than plain ol’ navy.
We popped by the Banana Republic – mostly because I know people there, because Mister loves their mens’ shirts, and because of the gorgeous portrait of January Jones in the window. As soon as we entered, I knew I was in for it, because right now, they’ve got some AMAZING fall pieces (if you don’t mind the price point) in the most beautiful blue.
This gorgeous navy cowl-neck wrap dress caught my eye immediately. On the hanger, it didn’t seem terribly special; putting it on was another story. All of the sudden, in 3-D, there was a knot here… a cowl there… a pretty tulip hem. It draped elegantly in the right places.
It feels like that dress you wear to dinner when you need to look amazing, but you worry about a delightful food-baby bump after your decadent meal.
Deep blue sateen with a ruffled front bridges the gap from menswear to flirty femme. I’d wear this around the office and then to happy hour later. The squared shoulders, collar, and ruffled front call for your full attention. If you need it like I do, pair the dress with understated nude heels, which will elongate your legs.
OK, so BR says this is Military blue, but whatever - I’ll take it anyway. The front yoke is accordion pleated to create an idea of voluptuous volume, while maintaining fitted structure. Yowza!
I really want a blazer – I’m obsessed with trying to find the perfect fit and structure. I need a blazer that doesn’t give me man shoulders, doesn’t look frumpy, and doesn’t make me look like I just stepped out of a Scotch ad or should be wearing Topsiders – though that could make quite the statement…
The great thing about this jacket is it’s sweatery. By avoiding the classic cotton/rayon/poly blends that make up traditional suiting, this little blazer can be worn with a cute skirt (dressy!) or tattered jeans (edgy!). It won’t wrinkle, it looks comfy and well-fitted… Do want!

I added this little number because my friend William really likes it. He also really likes this tiered dress, and though it’s not blue, I’d snap it up post haste!

Hell yes, good sir! I do agree that this dress is gorgeous…
But back to blue… I’m head over heels for this color (which you may note is almost the exact color of my Lekkerlife dress):
So Fall, I promise – we can be blue together. *wink*

I LOVE the idea of navy blue. I usually rock all black attire but navy blue is still dark with a little more softness to it. This is a great idea.
P.S. You look like a celtic goddess in that dress!
