This last weekend the University District dolled itself up and set up shop all the way down the Ave – it was the 40th University District Street Fair, and such a gorgeous weekend.
I admit, I love buying trinkets, scarves and fun things at street fairs – and that’s exactly what I did this time. I came home with a couple of amazing things – like this sari skirt!
A beautiful maroon and gold silk sari turned bias-cut skirt, this little number cost a mere $20. I paired it with a grey Energie tank and a chunky necklace from Banana Republic.
I also picked up a cute short sleeved organic cotton hoodie from Revival Ink.
I bought it in the darker color and can’t wait to wear it! The cotton is so soft and the ink is non-toxic and water-based. Amazing!
I bought a couple things for the house too – like hand-blown glasses by Dehanna Jones, a bag of mystery soap bits from the Oregon Soap Company, a hand woven set of hanging baskets for my kitchen, and a very cool art print. I love street fairs for their hand crafted goods, their showcase of artisans and wandering around in the sun, with a bag full of fun (and affordable) trinkets.
What about you? What’s your favorite street fair find??

I have this goooorgeous twisted gold and silver wire choker that I got at the 4th Avenue Street Fair here in Tucson. The fair was almost over so they guy gave it to me for $100 and absorbed the sales tax instead of $115 before tax ^_^
wow, such an ethnic look. I always ask my mom to give me her old saris too! I really wish I learn sewing fast.
