(Summertime Blues by Mitchell Miller)
Recently it has come to my attention that some folks around me have been in a bit of a slump. It’s that tiny rut that we all get into, where life drags by – filled with business, work, and no play. In fact, it seems like many people are feeling a little rut coming on. It could be the gorgeous weather of summer, but being stuck at a desk; it could be the myriad of things to do, and no time to laze around with a book. Whatever the cause, it’s normal, it’s natural, and it doesn’t have to be *that* bad.
In particular, it stinks when our lover is down or burnt out. In the beginning your thought may be – “well, what is there to be down about?“ It’s generally less important to analyze, and more important to focus on alleviating the stress or blasé feeling. It helps to ask them if there’s anything you can do or talk through with them that will make them feel better – sometimes they need some time to read a book or paint their toenails. Sometimes, though, it’s nothing that’s they can put their finger on. While you should realize you can’t solve whatever is bothering them, a little brainstorming creates a list of ways to brighten your lover’s day, like:
♥ Make them a mix CD of love songs. ♥ Bake theirs favorite cookies. ♥ Go to My M&M’s and customize a bag of M&M’s in their favorite color. ♥ Plan a picnic in the park – bring their favorite lunch food and a frisbee, or a kite. ♥ Make them dinner and rent their favorite (zombie/chick) movie. ♥ Take a day off together to go to the Aquarium or a museum. ♥ Offer them a back massage (or body massage – *wink wink*. ♥ Build a blanket fort and snuggle inside while reading passages from your favorite books. ♥ Take them lunch at work. ♥ Write them love poems. ♥ Go out for a movie date and wear something sexy underneath – casually and quietly mention said sexy outfit while in line for Milk Duds. *wink wink* ♥ Write them a little song. ♥ Make a list of reasons you love them – then write them on post it notes and hide them throughout the house. ♥ Have an extended smooch session. ♥ Get them tickets to see an awesome band they love, the next time they’re in town.
That’s what I came up with. I’m sure there are more, and you could plan them together – even scheming excellent plans is a great way to cheer up your lover.

Thanks for the reminder, my honey has been in a bit of a slump and i’ve been neglectful. Plus, when he feels loved he’s way sweeter.
