I’m blogging to you from sunny LA on my (honeymoon) vacation because I realized how many cobwebs we’ve got in the corners on my little slice of the web.
Where have I been? Getting mawwied.
Transitioning from bride to newlywed leaves a little bit of room in my daily schedule – and what’s on my mind? Packing for a two week, summer trip – what do you take when Vegas is in the middle of your vacation? Eating well on vacation. How marriage changes you but doesn’t. The intricacies of growing up. Guy’s fashion and my love of french cuffs. My blond and blue eyed “husband”.
How do I adjust and do I even need to? What should I look forward to – not that I have nothing to look forward to, but what do I choose? Where do I focus? Was it really the “best day of my life” like so many people say your wedding should be, or was it just the best party we’ve thrown all year? And I look forward to the parties to come, because we have a case of wine from our wedding that we’re saving for an anniversary party. Alternative weddings and vintage-inspired brides. Making my own reception dress – with Kimberlee’s help – and using our dress patterns in seasons to come. The necessity of fancy parties as an excuse to wear my fancy dresses. Spring/Summer 2011 with Deco Modiste. Bridesmaid dresses and our photos.
From out of that unfocused haze, I already have ideas brimming like some modern dinner-party throwing June Cleaver. Or like certain designers (is it Marc Jacobs? I can’t remember) who reportedly disassemble vintage items to put together current lines. In ways, it’s the same as it ever was… and in ways it’s a completely fresh start.
